New guy here...

Can a Standard butt stock be converted to a side folder of underfolder?  Or do the receivers need to be made for teh specific stock.  I'm looking at a used Arsenal milled with the fixed stock, but want an underfolder.

Thanks!

Not worth the effort to mess with, if you want an underfolder buy an underfolder. I have one of the century YUGO underfolders, $425, great little carbine.

I converted my milled receiver MAK-90 to a underfolder.  A major pain in the arse, it wobbles a little bit and I scratched up the receiver pretty good.  I would rather buy a underfolder than do that again.....

I put an underfolder on mine. If you have access to a milling machine it isn't that big of a deal. If not I wouldn't want to tackle it. Remember once you've done it you can't go back, unless you want a lot of holes showing on your receiver.

You can convert a standard buttstock to either a Romanian or East German Side Folder or an Ace Side Folder.

Poly stock block allows installation of Under folder stock on standard stamped AK receivers.

I have a wasr10 with the standard stock it comes with, and I want to replace it with a side folder. Do I have to modify the receiver, or will it fit right in? Am I going to have to cut the receiver?

It depends on which stock you use.  The Romanian and East German (almost identical) stocks just bolt on.  A bulgarian side folder will require a lot of drilling/milling to the receiver to make it work.  The ACE, LTD. side folder can be had where it will work on an unmodified AK, but it looks awkward unless you cut off the rear tang (tab with screwhole for the stock).

I wouldn't even think about the Crapco folder.

Personally, If I were going to put a sidefolder on one of my WASR's, it would be the Romanian.  It's the cheapest, it's the easiest to use, and it doesn't pollute the bloodline
