I want to convert my SLR-95 to a no-ban configuration (I understand the parts count shuffle).  What are my options for adding a muzzle device?  Currently, I just have a short un-threaded section in front of the front sight.

Thread 14x1LH and then use a slant brake.

Though not correct you can also use the 24 x 1 1/2 mm right hand thread adapter and increase the type of muzzle devices you are able to use.  This would allow the use of the Bulgarian pattern flash hider.

Does the SLR-95 have the detent pin and spring?

The best deal going that I am aware of is at Midwestarmory.  Duke has a compliance kit there which includes G2 double hook fcg, US piston, Bulgarian pattern flash hider.  If you get this one make sure you get the thread adapter also.

He also has different packages with the doube hook G2, gas piston and the slant brake for the five US parts you require for a complete foreign stockset.  Add a Polish laminated milled rifle stockset including pistol grip and the rifle would be a beauty.

You will need to rivet in a lower tang on the rear of the receiver.  Check inside the lower rear of the receiver to see if it is milled out for the tang.  If so you just need to drill the receiver and rivet though it can be done with two(?) button head machine screws I believe.

What did the old school milled Ak use for a brake?

I think  mine might have the slot for a bottom trunion.  What shoud the rear of the receiver look like?

Slant brake or muzzle nut.

It will be a slot for the lower tang.  I can't pull a milled Bulgarian out and look at it as I sold and traded both of mine.

A muzzle nut is correct for an milled AK.   The 95 uses AKM parts on a milled receiver, so I would replace the FSB with a 24 mm FSB and put a US copy of a bulgie flash hider on it.

K-Var doesn't have ANYTHING else you want?

I wound up buying magazines to get shipping on a $5 screw to a reasonable level. BSW

I like the looks of the Bulgarian FH.

I just see the muzzle nut as a waste of the threads.  If you have threads you want something on them that adds to the rifle. I'm not a traditionalist. I don't care so much as to what is proper as long as my rifle isn't tapcorized.
