--So I'm getting ready to make the leap and convert my Saiga-12 shotgun, and I'd really like to put an AK100-style folder on it, but I've gotten away from gear whoring for a while, and now the only ones I see are at K-Var and Ruseller. Is there anyone else out there who is carrying them? I realize they're not the most common item in AKdom. Help a brother out?

Ductapeman,

You can buy the Saiga polymer folding stock for around $150 or less. It is designed to fit any unconverted Saiga shotgun or rifle. I know I saw a posting about it on this forum and the seller was taking orders for the stocks, but I can't remember where I saw it.

I put one on my Saiga 7.62 and it makes it look like a $400 AK47. It took me about an 1/2 hour , but I do things very slowly to be sure I don't get any suprises.

One time when I was working on a car, I had just taken the carberator off the engine and somehow I managed to "launch" the ball and spring that were in one of the machined cavities. I never found them and I think we found an old carb to rob the parts from. Ever since then I have been careful when taking something apart.

After BattleRifleG3 gets my wood handguard, pistol grip and stock made I will have to decide whether to keep the folding stock or replace it with a regular stock. That is going to be a tough decision. Of course I have the law to contend with too.

I hope some of this helps.

K-Var and Ruseller are about it.

The K-Var stocks are US made and count towards compliance. Probably cheaper, too. I would go with that.

There was a post on the MIGETA forum comparing the Russian stock to the US made/K-Var stock and the general consensus is that the US stock was every bit as nice.
