Shoots like a dream. Got it in December, but I've only brought it to the range twice so far. Range fees suck around here.

WASR

The Romanian rifles currently being imported. These are low mag capacity guns converted to accept normal AK mags. Some of these need tweaking to function properly.

WASR-1 = 7.62x39,

WASR-2 = 5.45x39

WASR-3 = 5.56x45

The WASR-10 is the low capacity 7,62 version, only accepting ten round mags.

No one knows what WASR means...its a Romanian thing.

My AK came straight from the box able to take Hi-cap mags. (It's the 7.62 btw.)

Actually according to the following quote, it is NOT a WASR. While it is a Romie, it doesn't meet the requirements for a WASR so I'm not really sure WHAT it is.

You are new.

It is a WASR.  Century takes to the receiver with a dremel and welds two steel plates on the inside to accept real AK mags.

It's cool, I wasn't trying to be insulting, just observing.

I'm new to AKs myself, I finally broke down and bought one of the damned things last month.  I may need to get a WASR and beat the hell out of it for kicks.

I don't know, I kinda like mine. What's so wrong with them? An AK is an AK as far as I know. The local indoor range is very limited but It seemed accurate enough straight out of the box although on my next trip I'll be fine-tuning as much as possible.

Nothing really wrong with a WASR if you find a decent one. The only real downside is that it wasn't originally built to accept double stacked mags. They are dremeled out as stated above. Some aren't to bad, but some of the magwells are really wide causing quite a bit of mag wobble. Other AKs have dimples built into the receiver. There are other quality control issues with Centuy's work. canted front sight bases is another major issue from time to time.

I had one, it shot fine. the magwell wasn't too bad, the front sight base was straight, never misfed. It was a good gun. It was my first AK. My second was a Vector. I was a little low on cash so I sold the WASR. I won't be parting with the Vector. AKs are built like a shit brickhouse. There is no reason why your WASR won't last you a long time. I don't think anyone was putting you down for your choice of rifle, but some will. Fuck 'em. Nothing wrong with a WASR. Shoot the hell out of it.

actually you have a WASR-GP

centruy does not weld in the plates inside the magwell, they come like that from romania, the plates are to center a single stack magazine (since bumps would not be deep enough to center a single stack). then the magwell and side plates are milled out at century

Hey did you get that on AIMsurplus? the have it there for about $290 or maybe a version of it. How does it shoot at 100 yards are you getting a good group?

I'm currently using an indoor range, so 50 yds is the longest I've been able to try it at this is what I got.

This pic is at 50 yds straight out of the box the first 60 rds I ever put through it. All the stray ones were me getting used to the rifle. The big hole in the middle is about 40 rds worth.

EDIT: Pay NO attention to the holes OFF the black part. It's a reused target.

What's the difference between a WASR and a WASR-GP?

[#15]
WASR-GP were converted to have a bayonet lug and threaded muzzle, WASR/WASR-10 did not have threads or bayo lug
