I've been reading that they are entry level rifles that need to be tinkered with? Anyone have any pros/cons about them? I've tried searching with no luck. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what the "GP" means, but WASR-10 Romanian AK style rifles are a good deal IMO. I have two of them, and have never had a problem with either. Be sure the front sight is straight and not canted to one side and you should be OK.

With a good cleaning & break-in mine has been very reliable.
I also soaked the bolt in a bowl of gasoline to make sure the crud was out.
Many cases of ammo fired since w/ little maintenance.

I personally wouldn't buy one without seeing it beforehand. Some of the magwels are opened too much causing a bad wobble, plus the FSB cant on some of them. Of course all the ones that I have shot function just fine.

In conclusion...
PROS:Cheap (cost)
CONS:Cheap (quality)

+1.

Though I'm still an AK-newbie, I can affirm this from personal experience. The first AK I fired was a WASR, and definitely suffered from some magwell problems, in addition to mediocre-to-poor quality overall. However, I handled some other WASRs in a fun store earlier this week that exhibited much better fit and finish, and had tighter magwells. Seems to be somewhat hit-or-miss, so I would only buy in person. YMMV.

I just have one so I can practice with an AK once in a while.  My FSB is fine but the mag wobbles a bit, not to bad and it functions fine.

I have two WASR-10s. One I have had for several months and the other I just picked up recently from a guy in south Florida. I looked like it was new. FSB is straight and shoots accurately. The mags wobbles a little bit, but it is no big deal. My other one has no wobble. For the money, you can't beat them.

I got mine two years ago.   Beside the FSB being slightly, slightly, canted....the rest is perfect.   I have shot 4000 + rounds through it. (working on my next thousand rounds)

The longest I have gone without cleaning the rifle was probably 500 rounds, and it still kept on going flawlessly!  It's just a shame the price has gone up on ammo, but still cheap overall.  Last time i bought 7.62 x 39 was at $75.00 for a 1000 rounds.  Now I think the price is at $76.00 for 500 rounds at the same place, Sportsmansguide.com

I recently went to a new members house who contacted me and wanted to check out his WASR he bought at the gun show.  He had refinished the wood and did a great job on it.  Except for no dimples in the receiver it looked like a great rifle and appeared totally straight.

If I needed another rifle and got a deal on one I would buy it but you should hand select one as far as I'm concerned.  If you order one online and get one that is less than perfect you would probably be turned off to the ownership of an AK.

Break-in = 2 30 shot magazines fired as quickly as humanly possible.
