I was considering getting the Vector Milled, however I prefer the semi-gloss look better than just parkerized.  How would I remedy this?  Is it something I could do myself or should I hire a professional.  If it should be a professional, any suggestions?

I am a complete noob but I have been doing a lot of research. As far as refinishing the receiver is concerned I have heard very good things about the Duracoat that Laury sells. They have a whole starters package for around $50.00. That gives you enough to do 2 long guns along with a sprayer and other stuff. They don't mind talking about thier product on the 1 800 line and they claim if you can use spray paint this stuff is easier. They offer a wide range of colors. They have something like 5-7 different "blacks" and I think at least one of them is glossy. Hope this helped.

Cheers,

If the finish is parked with nothing else you should be able to spray it with the Durocoat, a molycoat baking finish, or most any other type of gun finish like KG after complete degreasing.

How does the durability compare between Duracoat, MolyResin, and KG Gun Kote?  Can any of them be touched up?  I'd imagine not the MolyResin or KG.

The Duracoat I have seen on rifles but have never used it.  It seems like a relatively inexpensive product.  It can be touched up.

The baking laquers I used can look good but you have to prep the metal correctly, make sure there is no oil, grease or finger prints, bake correctly, be careful of dust.  I dropped a slide and it left a small chip and I had to blast the finish off and start over (KG or Norrells product I think).

I have a slide done by a person who did this as a business and it has several chips but I did get the slide second hand.

Wear a respirator with filters or you will be coughing the stuff up.

Alumihyde2 semi-gloss is what I've used on my Romy G build and my Yugo M70. Looks good and holds up to brake cleaner.
