Hey all,

A while back I bought my first AK... went the cheap route and bought the Romanian, and it really is a blast to plink around with.  I'm looking into building a premium weapon in the coming months but for right now, I'd like to ask what kind of improvements can be made to the romanian.  I got two stocks in the kit, with the thing being sold with the thumb-hole plywood stock, and the plastic pistol grip and plywood buttstock included in the box.  Is there an inexpensive but decent set of traditional furniture for these things?  I've heard of Ironwood... are they all wood save the plastic pistol grip?

Also, I tried removing the stock and for some reason, the damned thing just will not pop off the rear of the reciever.  I removed the large screw on the top of the reciever that goes into the wood.  Do I just need to bang on this thing some more?

Thanks

As far as getting the buttstock off, after removing the screw I've had a few that wouldn't come off easily.

I found that I could put a large screwdriver (or other instrument) in from the front/top and hammer on it which drove the stock out.

THere is no such thing as "an inexpensive but decent set of traditional furniture"

Most WASRs have furrin front and rear stocks, so cheaper imports will prob be ok.
I love my SAR2 also, but since my Bulgy kit 74 out-shoots it 2" vs 2.5", I'd leave the Romy as-is for plinking and move on to the next gun.

Thread the barrel and add a AK74 muzzle brake and then call it good.
