OK!  I found an extremely cheap AK Kit for $109  Its missing a piece I can't find online.

http://dpharms.com/romanian-ak47-kits-p-95.html

I figured This would be an extremely cheap AK that I could use just for screwin around in the woods near Oscoda Michigan.  And if its around $140 Total before shipping I feel I have gotten a great deal,  My question is What is the part it is missing, and where can I get it.  Thanks.Edit When I say screwin around, I mean plinking, not like match shooting.

Its missing the original disconnector from the fire control group. If you plan on legally building this rifle with the 922 compliance parts, you can use a new US made FCG , which will include a new US made disconnector. If you are building it as a pistol, you will need to find another disconnector, which can easily be had by posting in the wanted section of the EE.

Yes - you should probably use a Tapco G2 Trigger group - so the missing disconnect won't matter.

If you really want to go all out - you could even get the Red Star trigger -

http://redstararms.com/488.htm

It seems like a lot for a trigger, but once you have one, you'll want them in all of your AKs.

...just my thoughts.

This is my cheap first ever AK  You would remove the screws to make the cheap AK which is what you have now into spare parts for your Good, AK, when I got the money.

Why not just buy a cheap one?  WASR

heh heh because then I would have to remove the bluing off the bolt carrier, and Buy an AMD foregrip stock (looking thing  (that was a joke, I dont need one)).  I like the raw metal look to the charging handle.  But thats not that much work.  And I thought buying a receiver and building it, would save myself about $80 and that money could buy me 500 rounds of wolf ammo

You would be better off buying a WASR and getting familiar with it. Theres a lot more to it than just buying a kit & receiver and slapping it all together

OK, Hers is the low down on building your Romanian Kit into a gun.

What you need.

Romy G kit  $109
Tapco Trigger kit  $40
Set of good Rivits  $20
Receiver  $60 (This needs to get transfered to you through a FFL Gun store or Individual)

Tools you need:
6-ton Floor type rivit press  (you need to press in the barrel and the cross pin)
A set of Good Drill bits
Drill press
Transfer punches
A fair amount of tool skills.

Someone that knows what they are doing can build one in about 2 hours.

Sounds like winter vacation is going the be interesting at your house.
I can see the headlines in the Oscoda Daily Herald right now.....
Im sure the woods around Oscoda, Mi. are going to be safe for a long time....
Good luck!  (You will need it...)

I didn't mean anything about his age as a put down.  I just figured he was pretty young and it didn't sound as though he had done any research on building an AK and that he might want to do that before he jumped into anything.  He would be better off saving up for a WASR or MAK-90 in my opinion.

I received my first BB gun at 7 and my first real rifle at 10.

Madman ... Thats kinda freaky, im turning 15 soon enough....

My parents don't really care as long the ammo isnt in the house... meaning my friends parents (theones who take me shooting Near Oscoda, have 2 or 3 AK's so I could leave my ammo there.

(thefightngprince) Is the name of a Kata I had to make for my black belt test in June 2005.  Ive been around guns for as long as I can remember, my grandpa used to take me shooting since I was 4, I used to shoot his 10/22 on the bench, I got somewhere around the 8's.

Instead of a drill press could you use C Clamps and a drill?  And could you use an Air riviter to rivet the rivets in there (thats a tounge twister) instead of the 6 rivet press?

EDIT : And my parents are all for saving money, in fact if my parents like the idea of me building it, chances are my dad and uncle would help me build it.

Some people have been successful with air riveters... but then, some people have plenty of luck with modified bolt cutters.  I personally use a drill press and a hydraulic press. This is the safest method and the least likely to mar your kit.  Doesnt mean you cant do it other ways, but there ya go.

Kata, eh? Which martial art are you taking? Shao lin dao?

If you can get your dad to help you build it maybe you can convince him to invest in some decent tools. It isnt as if you ONLY use the things for building guns after all. ;)

Zeke, before you go running out and buying parts you need to do some reading on how exactly to assemble an AK out of a kit, and how to do it LEGALLY.  Look around the site a bit and there are some real good threads on how to do it and what tools you will need.  To be honest, unless your dad or uncle has a 12 ton press, it is going to be cheaper to purchase one.  But don't let that get you down, there are still a lot of ways to build an AK without a press, or you can send it off to have someone press the barrel out for you.

Whatever you do, don't cut corneres on the build.  A firearm is an engineered product that has explosive power contained in it, and no one here (or your dad I am sure) wants to see you get hurt or killed by trying to do a half-assed job of it.  Read up, and explain to your dad exactly what it is going to take and what is involved in the process.

But hell, give the kid some credit- at least he has enthusiasm and interest in something.  A lot of kids just want to sit around and play Playstation and watch MTV these days.

this is the world's worst idea.

if less than a year ago you didnt have sense enough to not vandalize personal property, you wont have sense enough to properly handle a firearm for a long time.

and "handle" doesnt only mean not shooting yourself in the foot.  it means a whole lot of other things.

you're lucky you didnt paintball my house and I caught you.  you'd be 'the crying prince' when I got done with you.  then hopefully your dad woulda torn you a new ass when I got done with him.  vandals really piss me off.

Once again, we grew out of that.....  we would walk around with a wrist rocket and about 50 paintballs (My friends older brother played paintball not us).

The parts kit would have been a Christmas gift along with about 500 rounds of ammo.  But after hearing how hard it is to build with an average set of tools, I've swayed away from that, probably going to get a hi-cap Wasr-10.  I don't appreciate getting flamed because I shot some paintballs at houses.  Im not that kid who eggs your house, or TP's it.  I might shoot one at your house, (and after getting caught, it was the last time for me).  Afterall, you were all kids at some point I doubt you were all little angel kids who didn't get in trouble for anything.

You'll have plenty of time to enjoy AKs (the ammo will probably be $500/1000...) in a few years when you "grow out" of other things you may get yourself into.  Get yourself a .22 rifle and learn to be a good shooter for the cost of that kit alone.  I don't even think most people *my* age (26-ish) are responsible enough to own an AK.....

And oh yeah, don't brag about paintballing houses in an AK forum...  We're not your gaming buddies.
