I picked up a like new unmolested SA85 a couple of weeks ago but just had to get rid of that crappy butthole stock so it went from this......  to this........    |
I wanted to thread the barrel but it was .540 which is inder 14mm but too big to thread 1/2 x 28 so I machined a 24x 1.50 mm threaded adapter (my first single pointed metric thread ever  ) and pressed it on. I wanted to thread it to 14mm so I could use just the slant comp thingy on it but noooooooo they had to make it undersize. Ok got the full size pics working now

I bought it from K-Var which is US made and with the G2 trigger parts gives me plenty of US made stuff. I thought about going with Ironwood designs furniture kit but decided I didn't want to fit it and then finish the wood. www.k-var.com/shop/ |
Actually the external threads on the adapter so not that hard but still my first time. I haven't tried metric threads before on our lathe here at work before and the other guys said it wouldn't do it but being a stubborn sort I gave it a whirl. Once I found out you can't disengage the half nut lever it worked fine. Before that I wiped the threads off a couple of times.
