The story is that I got a birdcage flash suppressor online and it didn't have a notch for the pin to go into. It just screwed on – I felt that was cheap and it would most likely fall off. So I ordered one from Krebs and it fits on there perfectly. Only the top of the flash suppressor is slotted and the bottom half is smooth with no holes in it - I assume this is to reduce muzzle climb. It is also much lighter then my other one and it should be the opposite because the older one had more holes. Here is the link from Krebs for the birdcage flash suppressor. |
+1 from what I've seen. Krebs and Chris Butler are probably the best builders in the game. I'd probably put Chris in the #1 slot, but it's a very tight (and subjective) race..... |

I have delt with both Mark & Brian and had no problems. I own a KTR-3V(Vepr). In 7.62x39mm. It is a well thought out machine. My only complaint is it is heavy. That is a minor complant. My KTR has a Aimpoint and it is fast on the target. Absultly relable! Spud47

I have a Krebs AK103K. When I got it and zeroed it, the front site was canted badly. I spoke to Krebs (not him personally) about it and they agreed to fix it. I sent it in with instructions on what was needed and forgot about it. I got a phone call quite a while later(several weeks). The gunsmith, (no it wasn't Krebs but one of his hired smiths- I got the impression that Krebs doesn't do much of the work these days) said it wasn't canted too bad(sight was pushed all the way over in the FSB) and insinuated that it was possibly my fault that it was canted. I told him the gun was new and I wanted it fixed. He started to complain that it was a lot of work and they would do what they needed to. A few days later, said gunsmith calls back and tells me the work performed will cost additional money because the repair required a refinish and replacement of the FSB and barrel. At that point they had my rifle, I started to argue, but gave up . Just my experience with Krebs Custom and their product. Nice rifle in the end. Expensive and I wouldn't count on their service. Go with Chris Butler. Or buy an Arsenal. Both are better choices for the money. Hell, see if Tony from Tromix will do a conversion. I guarantee this same thing would NEVER happen with Tony. Tromix is absolutely the best. |

You know, I saw you post this identical comment some time ago; I mean word for word. I get the impression that you have an axe to grind, perhaps based on the above experience. But I digress. |
| yea I call BS Krebs guarantees there work 100% if your not happy with the work or rifle send it back and its taken care of till you are happy....I dont believe for one minute you sent back a rifle and they charged you extra, you must have screwed something up and voided the warranty.... if I ever had a question or help with anything Brian was a true gentleman and bent over backwards to help me out....and if he didnt know the answer Marc Krebs would speak to me personaly....... |

It is word for word. I copied and pasted it out of the the archived post. I don't know if you can link to archived posts. I didn't feel like typing a response. Look it up in the archive if you want. No axe to grind, that is what happened. If I had an axe to grind, I would have started my own posts about the experience when it happened(quite a while back). If you like Krebs and are happy with them go for it. I didn't have a great experience with them(the rifle is nice in the end, but I would personally take a different route if I were to repeat the experience). The rifle was newly purchased out of inventory. It had a whopping 60 rds. thru it when it was sent to Krebs to be fixed. I would go with Butler over Krebs like I said. No problems with him and he turns out great stuff. So does Tromix. I am affiliated with none of the above. I have firearms from them, and appreciate their worksmanship AND customer service(in my experience). One person's thoughts. That's what tonyayo asked for. Take it for what it's worth. |
There are things we don't know about some aspects of the story. Fixing a canted FSB is a nothing job for me, a country WECSOGer, and should be even easier for Krebs. |

I don't mind working on an AR, but I don't work on AK's. An AR is relatively simple to work on with the right tools. Simply pinned and bolted connections. AK's- sheet metal cutting, bending , rivets, etc. I have no idea how the barrel is assembled. No thanks. I appreciate those that do work on them, but I never have attempted to do any "gunsmithing" work to an AK myself. Thus the reason for going with the pros out there for conversions. Apologies for the thread hijack- As for the gun in question, I attempted to zero it like my other ak's and had to push the front sight drum all the way to one side to get the thing zeroed. At that point I called and subsequently sent it in. In the end, maybe I should have looked into what it would have taken to fix it without sending it off. Then again I am pretty sure that taking a hammer to the FSB(that's how you would tweak an AR) would definitely void any warranty. I figured new gun, let them fix it. Live and learn. Back on topic- Krebs does make some nice stuff and my AK103K is a great gun. I won't be getting rid of it, but I personally have made the choice to go with other AK builders since then. |
I made a decision a while back that gun purchases are a one way ticket. I won't be selling anymore of mine. I have always missed the firearms that I have sold. Plus you never know what legislation if coming down pike. |
Close - you use a pin punch to remove the pins, then take a hammer to it and straighten it. An AK is assembled with three techniques - press, pin, and rivet. |

Those of you shitting on rpmwfo for no good reason may want to hear this: I purchased a custom AK variant from Krebs and it is a beautiful firearm in every respect except the front sight was canted a bit. Not a big beal for a factory Romanian or Chinese gun, but this was a custom job and I wanted it right. So I sent it back to get straightened. Couple weeks later I get it back canted worse than before. At that point I said forget it, I know this will turn into some type of damn pissing match if I pursue it any further. This experience was probably the straw that broke the camel's back for me concerning AK custom builders. I have no more patience for that whole process. Just look at the Josh Newton fiasco. And the Gooch before that. And my own and many other with Elite. I have no more desire to deal with custom AK's or their builders. Now, I didn't previously post anything about this experience but then I see this thread and I see some honest guy with no agenda getting flamed for posting his own experience. CitySlicker, you especially have no room to talk concerning "axes to grind" and agendas, after your sycophantic devotion and defense of PLW/HFG. People in glass houses and all of that. |
| they didnt get out of the custom building business.....they still build great rifles, just dont do individual requests anymore... for me they have always been top notch as far as customer service...I recommend them highly........and nobody is shitting on the guy its just hard to believe....I had an issue with one of my KTR-03s and sent it back to Krebs....took a few weeks stayed in contact with both Brian and Marc....and they actually refinished the whole rifle after the work was done FOR FREE...the damn thing didnt even need it and they did it anyways....THAT is why I call BS. |

The Krebs 103 was one of these rifles when introduced was something really different and slighly ahead of Arsenal Inc. production of the SAM-7 when i bought mine. The 103-K is nice but once i received my first SAM-7 postban model my attiute changed and have bought nothing but Arsenal products ever since.
