I ordered 5 AK-47 magazines from centerfire systems, and while one or two are passible the rest look like they were recovered from a sunken Russian submarine, is there anyway to clean the rust off of these?, and what finnish did these use origionaly? Also does anyone know what nationality magazines Centerfire is selling, I looked at the picture thread but I couldn't tell any of them apart, I don't see any markings on these, and they appear to be the standard type with the raised rib on the back where it's welded togethor, and normal European pattern followers, and three horizontal ribs on the bottom, with the middle one comeing from the back only going about halfway accross the magazine.... Another of the magaines doesn't lock in correctly or rather it locks in fine but I have to use both hands to get it back out again, how do I fix this just grind down the part of the magazine that contacts the magazine release?.... Also does anyone know what nationality magazines CDNN is selling?, I bought 10 of those, they look the same to me as the ones from Centerfire but I see a 10 inside a double circle on one of them, I haven't looked through them all yet though, also most of these ones appeared to be almost brand new unnissued, without even any ware where they contact the magazine release, although these were the $7.99 used ones, only one was really beet up, and has a dent preventing the follower from comeing all the way back up.... Also I have another kind of magazine that came with my SAR-1, I assume it's Romanian, but since I got it used who knows, it doesn't have the same rib on the back instead just a curved ridge that looks like the ones on the sides, and only 2 horizontal ridges on the bottom, both of which go all the way across, the closest thing I could find in the picture thred was Chinese, but it had the follower stops, which as I understand the Chinese ones don't have, the follower it'self is not the standard European pattern it has a square ridge that goes all the way down one side, and again the closest I could find in the pictures is Chinese, it looks like someones been grinding on the follower to get it to clear the stops, so it makes me think that this is not the origional follower, and someone was trying to convert this to a bolt hold open magazine, but they only did one side, I don't see any markings.... |

Circle 10 are Bulgarian. Most European mags have the ridge on the back. Centerfire is probably selling Yugo mags. Clean them up with steel wool and penetrating oil to get the rust off. Some mags are painted. Try high temp engine paint. Bake in oven. Must be totally degreased to paint. Use a blast cabinet if you have one with aluminum oxide to blast rust off and paint. Can try KG gunkote or gun coating paints from brownells. Chinese mags are one that comes to mind without a rear rib found on European mags. www.akforum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=93 www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.php?t=163184 ![]()
