So I order a Vector underfolder.  While waiting for it to arrive I read several posts on this board with folks asking what AK to buy.  Someone tells a guy to stay away from Armory USA.  I get the Vector today, FROM VECTOR, and the damn thing is built on an Armory USA reciever.  Did I just get f&%$#@??????

Vector is a good company, and no matter what they shipped to you, if you ever have a problem with it, they will stand behind their product.  IMHO vector is second in quality only to arsenal (or a custom build of course).  Don't worry, you are in good hands.  Oh, and Armory USA isn't a bad receiver.  Maybe not known to be the best, but certainly doesn't have a bad reputation.

The Armory USA receivers are one of the best US made receivers out there.  You didn't get ripped, vector just uses their receivers.  I'm sure you have a quality gun.

I ordered a Vector underfolder from Vector, and got an EWBANKS receiver.

I had to send the rifle back to Vector because the sights were canted, the underfolder was hitting the 30 round mag, and the mag well was so damn tight I couldn't fit a mag (other than the one that was sent with the gun) in the gun without spending a few minutes making it fit.

I sent it away a few days ago, and I will give a full report on how well they did to make it right. The guy I talked to on the phone said that Vector would pay for my cost to ship the rifle to Vector. Plus, it's nice to not have to use a FFL to get warranty work done. They can ship it directly to my house when the rifle is complete.

To sum up my post in one sentence, You shouldn't have any problems.

They used one batch of Ewbanks.  The Armory receivers are fine.  Some of the Armory USA built rifles have issues, but a Vector built on the Armory receiver should be fine.

Hmm...  Kinda disturbing news to hear considering that I'm about to order an underfolder  for my bday next week.  Are the ones being shipped out now still using Ewbanks recievers or Armory?

Edit...  I love the fact of the 5 year warranty but I don't wonna ever have to use it!

I feel the same about the warranty.  I got mine yesterday and it was on an AUSA.

If you get it through Atlantic Firearms, a board sponsor, you get a discount if you mention you are a member here.  You could also ask them to send you only a rifle built on an Armory receiver.  It was six months ago or more that Vector received the receivers from Ewbanks and sent them back for new ones as they had issues, if I remember right.  They received replacements and supposedly used those and it was mentioned they would not be using them again.

Problem is there was a shortage of available US receivers as Armory was having production problems.  Armory USA/Global Trades seems to have disappeared off Gunsnet and Warrifles forums since 06-18-2006.  Don't know if they are currently producing anything.  Anybody have any info on them?

Maybe NoDakSpud will take up the slack.
