I have an AK I just purchased and while cleaning, I noticed what appears to be some carbon/lead build up about 2 inches in front of the gas hole. I've throughly cleaned the barrel and the rest of the barrel is shiny, except a 1/4-1/2 inch section that looks very uniform. After the section, the barrel is shiny again toward the muzzle. Could it be a defect in the chrome lining? It is about 2 inches ahead of the gas hole, so I do not think that is it. The rifle is built on a polish kit. Has anyone ever seen this before or am I worrying for nothing? Thanks! |
| Yes could be a defect in the chrome. Ive seen this a couple of times on Rommies. I have one myself where the chrome did take very well near the lands ( rifleing ) . It still shoots well. I do a final pass with a clp patch to insure no rust. I wouldn't think to much about it. It was a POOR commie country that made it. WarDawg |
