Hi all, new to the dark side.

I'm looking at a milled Arsenal SLR-101 S, which I think was made during the ban.

1.  What is a good price for one if it is in good shape?

2.  Do they take regular AK mags?  Sorry for the ignorance, but I only see them pictures with some type of waffle magazine. (I don't know about AKs too much, trying to learn though)

3.  Also, since the ban has expired now, can you modify any AK to have a folding stock or change out the flash supressor / muzzle break as long as it is not illegal in your state?

Thanks in advance.

Is this the one with the thumbhole stock that only accepts single stack mags?  You can probably find better for less money.

The gun you are looking at it probably an Arsenal Bulgaria receiver that
was built on a Hungarian parts kit.  They are very good guns and once you get
rid of the thumbhole stock, look great.

The Waffle mags, like any other AK magazine will fit any high cap AK rifle
If the gun was built properly. It is probably a 30 round gun.

Yes you can put an underfolder in it if you wanted. It is not a DIY project IMO.
If you mis-drill ahole in your receiver, you screwed up your milled receiver...
I would stick with a wood or synthetic on it.  One thing you will probably need is a
rear lower tang for it. Many, if not all of the milled thumbhole guns do not have
these installed. They are available from K-var for less than $15. They are supposed
to be rivited in but you can use bolts / nuts if you DIY. Use some red locktite to secure them.

Here are a couple of other things to consider.

The gun in average condition should be priced in the ~$400-450 range.
If you do want to restore it to its origonal AK glory, you will need to
replace the trigger group, (3 parts) install a US Mfg Gas piston, (1 part)
and a US pistol grip (1 part). This will give you a total of 5 US MFG parts
and make the gun legal under the 922(R) compliance rules.
If the barrel is threaded, you can get a barrel nut to put on it.
They are great guns. I love mine. It started life as a UGLY thumbhole gun also,
but has been rescued and brought back to its proper AKM glory.

If you do get it post some pics so we can see the progress of it.

Hope this helps.
