All I ever see in this guy's shop are progressing AK builds, and I've been happy with the quality of my AK pistol build from him.

Chris Butler at AKUSA is questionably the best AK smith out there. His work is incredible, I mean just jaw droping. Plus, he is a really nice guy and great to work with. Downside is that you will pay for his services, and pay well. So if you're short on cash, forget Chris for now.

AR15.com member Duke Nukem  has been doing some great work recently, at least judging by some of the posts I've read (I can't remember what the name of his shop is, maybe someone will jump in here).

Also, check out Ken at Global Gunsmithing.

Good luck, man.

The AK frequently asked questions thread is one place to start researching.  Has links to many major builders websites.

Derek at AZEXARMS does great work.

Heard plenty of complaints about Elite.

Coyote Gulch, Red Stick and Sledgehammer have good reviews.

I don't think ORF does builds for people anymore.

Newton Firearms for most purposes seems to have dropped off the site and you should check the tacked posts above.

Most of the rest on the list also have good reviews but there is a wide range of prices among them.

Besides the list, each have some specialties and different turnaround times, so be more specific in your work needs so we can steer better ;)

+1 for Ken @ Global. He's completing an AK-105 build for me right now; it's been just over 2 months. Communication has been excellent throughout the process and his prices are very competitive.

I solicited quotes from a half-dozen different builders for this project, and Ken was the nexus of price, quality and turnaround time.

His shop is called Missouri Custom Armaments.  His website is www.mcarms.com.  Right now, I have him working on an SAR-1 I have that Century Arms really goofed up on...long story.  Anyway, he sounds like a stand-up guy who does good work, so I'd recommend.

Glenn @ Magnum Gunsmithing out of Ohio has done some outstanding work for me on a Tantal.  He'll be getting my RPK74 and a few other kits soon.
