I like those sort of "art" deals.  I was wondering when someone would startmaing and selling those kinds of those things.  I have a couple of them with other items etched inside and they are really cool looking.

Ok, if they can do a 3D image of damn near anything like that, what about a 3D head portrait of a person?  I can see this as a way to store an image forever that never changes.  Well, it would not be "forever" as glass is only a semi-solid thing, but for the next 2-300 years it should remain the same.  Glass windows made in early America that are still intact have widened at the bottom considerbly after 200+ years now.  The panes are actually measurably and visibly thicker at the bottom now as the glass is in a state of slowly "melting" with gravity tugging at it.

Cool deal man, let us know where we can get such an animal or even a custom job done?

When I was at Vegas there was a place that could create 3-D images of people etched in crystal.  You would sit in this special booth, this machine would take these "pictures" of you from multiple angles, and they would then create your 3-d picture inside the crystal.  I did not have it done but saw another person do it.  It cost a couple hundred dollars IIRC.  That was a while ago, so maybe prices have come down.

this stuff started out in Germany, now you can buy premade designs for a few bucks (under $10 here in cow country NY)....no reason to spend more than that for a piece of glass that got burned by 3 lasers.
