I  just traded a guy for a romy kit that I will be building, the only thing I don't really like about it is the bottom handguard is (I guess) laminated wood in the shape of a foreward pistol grip.
I don't really like any of the plastic replacement pieces I've seen. I do however really like the look  with the wood guards.
That just totally looks like the red menance to me, not so common as all of the plactic stuff.

My question is, would I be a total Tard to cut the hand grip off and refinish both the upper and lower hand guard, or should I keep looking for a wood relpacement.

I would rather swap these with someone who wanted on as buying a new hand guard set right out of the gate would negate the deal I got on the entire part's set.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Does anyone know if I can put an under folding stock on one of these? It came with a 100% stamped receiver.

My only regret is that I didn't start mesing with these monkeys sooner.

I wouldn't cut off the forward grip.  If you post an ad on the Equipment Exchange here, I'm sure someone will gladly trade you their plain handguards for your PG handguard, probably even toss in a few bucks to cover your shipping costs.

Not that forward grips are rare, but they're less common than the plain.  A guy was poking around asking for one just a day ago on this forum, so I'm sure you'd have no trouble trading it on the EE.

Good luck,  -MV
