I have a slant muzzle break I am going to put on a ak rifle after I thread the barrel. I noticed the notch for the retaining pin on the break itself is offset from the vertical by about 20 degrees. I looked at the replacement front sight bases at v-var (my sight base does not have a retaining pin hole) and they have the detent hole for the retaining pin right in the middle of the front sight, at vertical. If I put my brake on that front sight setup it would not be horizontal, it would be canted. I looked at various ak pictures on this site and all the slant break pics show them at horizontal. What gives? Are there different detent plunger/retainer locations on front sight posts? Should I not worry about getting the retainer/plunger setup done and just red locktite the break on? |
