I have this assembly at home. It is easy to dick up the finish. I already have. And I haven't done much. I am getting it refinished once fully assembled though. So it should be okay afterwards. Good Luck. |

It can definately be done in the home workshop but the finish is going to get screwed up, I had to use a torch to heat mine enough to tap it off but I was refinishing the rifle anyway ...
Why do you need to access the gas port? |
