Can you cut (and recrown) and thread a barrell without removing it from the reciever? How about just threading it properly. This came up in the russian forum here

Yes, you can and it's really quite easy. Brownell's sells the tools to do the job correctly. They have a crowning tool and also a thread alignment tool that aligns the bore with the die to cut the threads.

I have done it and like I said, it's easy (just use plenty of lubricant).

I had an NHM91 with a bent barrel, it was cut to 16.75" , re crowned and threaded with a vertical mill, a drill press......worked great, even opened up the FSB and tigged it back on the barrel.
