Sorry if it's a dupe.  I don't follow the AK threads much.

ETA:  Sorry guys, Here's a link to the page where I saw the pics...

I am going to build one sometime in the future, post pics, and then take the wrath. I still haven't found anybody that has sny idea how much the gold plating would cost. I would rather not just gunkote it...

Damn Mr. Krink, the more I look at your golden AK, the more I like it. If I had an extra yugo kit and a ton of money, I'd go ahead and build me one just like the ones saddam's buddies had, that is, unless you wnat to send me yours for an in-depth technical evaluation

What did you use for a finish on that?

Is it plating or a coating?

Inquiring minds want to know?

It is GunKote from Brownells. Took 2 cans to do it and the mag which is about $60.00!!
Would like to really gold plate it but it would be about $200.00.

Glad you like it. I just took on of the Romy kits I got cheap and did it.

I'm thinking more along the lines of chrome. Or titanium nitrate. With the latter your AK would likely survive the end of the universe and still work.

I think it is as ugly as all get out. What is interesting to me is the uniform those guys are wearing. It looks like Air Force guys. What are they doing with a Gold plated AK?

Thanks for the info. I saw that Lauer has a gold color also.

Great gun you did there.

It has me thinking of a matte chrome underfolder with black furniture.
