me and Biggerstick are trying to determine the difference between different types of scope mounts. Supposedly there are different mounts for the different models Of AKs as well as SKSs and SVDs. So if you guys could post pics of your rails that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys  PS No dogging peoples rifles in this thread please |
After posting the link, I wondered if you meant the mount that rivets to the receiver or the mount that fits on that mount and locks with the throw lever. I was assuming that you meant the latter, and knew that Tantal's site showed the various height ones for SVD's, etc. Which type of mount are you inquiring about? |
M4, what we are trying to determine is what side mounting rail 762 has on his VEPR 308. He can't take pics because we froze his camera on our last hunting trip (not my fault  ). His looks similar to an AK rail, but is upen in the front like an SVD.

SVD Rail POSP 8x42 - SVD Mount  POSP 8x42 - AK Mount  AKM Rail  POSP 8x42 - AK Mount  PSL Rail with POSP 8x42 - AK Mount  Basically the SVD mount attaches near the front of the SVD rail and the AK mount comes from behind. The SVD mount scope doesn't fit the AKM rail because the scope doesn't clear the rear sight post of the AK47 or 74. The AK mount scope fits either rifle, but I've had trouble on the PSL. The scope mounts ok, but sits too nose down to get a good zero even with the POSP reticule slipped as far as it would go. The Romanian 4x24 was much easier to zero, but still required more reticle slip than when mounted on the SVD or AK. I think the rail on the PSL is canted too far down for some reason. |
