I was on Rusmilitary the other day and noticed they have deactivated bayonets with the latches filed off.  They go for a pretty penny but they do have a Russian 100 series bayonet that I'd really like to purchase for my 74M project but I'm a little apprehensive because I'm not sure if there is any way of repair for one.  Does any one have tech drawing or have ever taken a bayonet a part and looked at its function.  I have a bulgy bayo that I could use as a donor for parts but I was wondering if its even possible.  I know CornFedHusker expressed some interest in this subject, by the way have you had an luck gettting it to work?  I figured if anyone knew about the subject it would be you guys.  Thanks.

There are some clear exploded views of the Russian AK-74 bayonet in Martin Ivie's book, Kalashnikov Bayonets (pp. 202-205).

I think you might be able to get the sprin-loaded latch off for replacement, but I've never done it and the book does not show disassembly instructions. The "button" that you push to move the latching hook fits through the pommel and is peened to keep it in place.  Maybe you could drive it out, but that might make it unusable?

Bulgarian bayonets are cheap now, and it looks like ORF got a crapload of them in.

Looking at mine, I think you could get the latching assembly out and reinstall it in a Russian.

I have the same problem.

I have (3) bulgarian donors.

And (3) Izhmash bayos 2 black, 1 plum.

Been thinking about knifemakers. They would probably find this an easy deal.

As far as buying them from Russia, or a seller from another country. Russia doesn't allow Activated Bayonets to be sold. Stupid Rule.

Oleg@Rusmilitary cannot get them legaly. Even for the brits. Neither can Andrei/Ruseller. RedSoldier cannot. RussianCombatGear cannot. I only found one place that had activated izhmash AK-74 bayos, but they were plum, and the bayonet hanger leather piece was brown instead of black. No biggie really to dye.

No, that's a latch for the AK-47 bayonet, completely different from the AK-74.
