I noticed a small difference in some receivers....but I cant figure out why some receivers have it and others dont. Notice how there is a small bulge under the trigger pin in picture 1...as where the receiver is flat under the trigger pin in picture 2. Is there a certain model or brand that this feature is excusive to?

My Romanian SAR-1 has the bulge.

Edited to add:

Unless it is Russian it is just a copy.

Seriously, each country that builds AK's does it their own way. So it is not surprising that there would be small differences.

It is my understanding that the bulge for the trigger pin was adopted at some time during the production of the AKM and later the AK74.  My Romanian SAR-1 has it, as does my Arsenal SLR-105A1.  If you are going to be a real, anal type stickler for historical accuracy on your gun, then if you are building an earlier AKM, it shouldn't have the bulge.  If it is a later variation, it should.  Both shoot fine so I say who cares?

Trigger bulge and left side selector recess were added in the mid eighties, if I remember correctly.
