Any suggestions? What I have so far (sitting here or at jnewt's): Bulgarian 74 parts kit (skeleton folder stock taken for half-assed Russian AKS-74 clone build) Current issue Russian AK74M muzzle brake (minus bullet baffle, need to get a new one pressed in) Smooth Saiga rifle top cover. Brand new 2005 dated Russian sling Izh-marked current issue bayo, neutered but maybe fixable using parts from Bulgy bayo. Brand new AK74M drop case. Four Izh plum-black mags in a mag pouch. US compliance parts: FCG, piston, PG. Things yet to come: Russian poly sidefolder stock set w/hardware from Andrei. Receiver? Can't decide on this one. I had a Russian-marked GT-AUSA ready to go, but sold it. I want proper dimples on this one. Wait for Harlan NDS/DCI? |
I would wait for the new receiver, or maybe even just invest in a SLR105 and convert that. The only real noticable detail that you are missing are the barrel parts.. The AK74Ms parts have little dimples.. I would see if someone could mill these in the Bulgarian ones..The real Russian ones are hard to get.. |
A close (but not exact idea) is to have them milled into the Bulgarian parts. The Russians basically drill a small hole into the barrel, and the dimple depresses into the hole to secure the part. |
| I saw another post by you that said you got it from Andrei. I think I might get one when i buy the drop case from him. I building the same thing right now i need one of the muzzle breaks that you have tantal doesnt have them right now. What about the new scope mount they've been using you have on of those tantal is selling them. |

Tagged. I'm currently getting my AK-74M ready as well. Here's what I have: Bulgarian AK-74 side folder kit Bulgarian optic rail Bulgarian rivet set US-made Global Trades 5.45 receiver US-made pistol grip, firecontrols, and gas piston Waiting on my AK-100 poly folder from Andrei, which supposedly should be here within 2 weeks. Should I go to the trouble to make it "super-authentic"? I also need to decide on a builder in the $4-500 range. In Range is booked solid, as well as Newton Firearms. |

Super authentic is the only way to go when this much is invested. I'm not sure who is going to do my build. That depends on when 1) the poly furniture arrives, and 2) what happens with the NDS/DCI receiver. Ted Marshall is going to be remarking the trunnion on mine. I might have him do selector markings as well. |

You guys rock. My SBR'ed AK-105 isn't going to be "super authentic" (M4M, I think you just coined a phrase); that level of detail just isn't important to me. But I admire the hell out of the guys who go through the time and expense to get it all the way right; kinda like the guys who build those scale model airplanes you see in the magazines - accurate down to the number of rivets in the panels, and the oil streaks applied one at a time with an airbrush. That's a real labor of love. |
| Do you have the new rear sight plate, cleaning rod and pistol grip re-enfocement plate? I'm looking for one of those FSB without the dimples and there isnt anything online. Tantal was going to sell me one with out the bayonet lug but I wouldnt know the first thing about putting on back on. CornFedHusker do you know of any source for these? |
