So I have to buy something to get it off?  Is there any other way to do it without buying the tool?

Take the gas tube off and remove the lower handguard, put the rifle in a vise, use rubber vise jaws not to marr your finish, clamp the rifle in the vise at the trunnion with the two rivets resting on top of vise jaws and clamp down. Now put on some heavy duty gloves, i use welding gloves but jersy gloves will work as well, lift the site leaf so its standing at the 12 o' clock position, now with some musicle and force push down on the sight and pull toward the rear of the rifle, they pop right out for me this way. As far as putting it back in, line up the site in the grooves and push forward with some force, it will pop right in.   McM

Take a large flat bladed screwdriver, one that fits in the slot in the sight. I put a piece of duct tape on mine. I do this alone, but if you have someone to help, its probably better. Take the rifle and lay it across the corner of a work bench or solid table at the mag well. With the sight flat, place the screwdriver in the slot, just above where the little tits are. Push straight down firmly and slightly back and the sight should pop right out. Be careful, it will come out quick and if your doing this on top of the old ladys dining room table, your on your own if you hit it.  As was mentioned, to get it back in, just push it back in. Takes a little effort, but nothing to hard.
