[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bolt hold open

I just bought my first AK. Cleaned it all up, removed the furniture ( It looked like it was finished with 80) grit!!)and refinished it. Now it looks and feels much better. Does anyone know how to add a bolt hold open to my Century WASR 10?

AKs don't have bolt hold opens,the Yugoslavian AK mags have a raised follower that will lock the bolt open on the last round but the full pressure of the action spring is on the follower and the bolt will close on removal of the mag.

If you are that hard up pn getting a BHO for an AK. You might want to find someone who has converted a Saiga. These rifles have a BHO. If you findone that has come from a Saiga it will also have a spring. Make sure you pray for a devine intervention upon reasembeling. Also some people just cut a slot in their selecter lever to hold the bolt back.

Hey wait you own a WASR. You already have one. Pull the bolt back makes sure you are empty of course. Pull the bolt back and pull the trigger while the bolt in the rearward position. The hammer should catch between the bolt and carrier, depending on what FCG you have.

Exactly,I've found it to be more of a PITA than anything useful.

I did some shooting last night. I took the yugo BHO mag out of my krink kit and tried it. Out of three AK's none held open on last shot. Two were romy G builds, the other was a pmkms build.
