I'm either missing something, an idiot or I drink too much.  All equally possible.  I can not figure out how to attach the sling I got w/ my kit to the rear mount.

What a buzz kill...this is my first build (or AK for that matter), I patiently wait for the finish to dry, head to the range w/ several hundred rounds, have a blast shooting it, get home and I can't figure out how to get the sling on!

TIA for your help...I searched the archives but the pictures would not show up.

Undo the buckle.  String the leather end through the rear sling ring.  Thread the end through the buckle (this will secure it to the rear sling attachment.)  Attach the leather end to the forward sling attachment point.  Does this make sense?

Not really, that still doesn't get the slings 'loop' around the rear mount.

Templar...thx, that makes sense but I can't get the leather strap through the buckle w/o removing the rivet.

Blury Pic...

Can you take the leather off of the buckle?  Got a better pic?

Negative...there is a rivet all the way through it.

It's gotta be able to be taken apart........I know you've tried twisting and turning it through the buckle right?

Needlenose pliers to get better grip on it?

If all else fails I'll swap you out a regular AK sling, seriously.  I have a Polish sling with a snap collar.

Can you post a pic of the other side of the rivet? It shouldn't go all the way through, that is just weird.

Templar,
What make of sling is that in your series of instructional pics?  It appears to be much longer than any of my AK slings.

Oh sweet release!  It is on.  When I tried to find the other side of the rivet I figured out that the I could get the leather off.

Thx a lot guys!

Dorsai, that's a Bulgarian sling, I've gotta feeling it's actually an RPK sling, and it's mine, all mine....I'll never get rid of it.

BP, glad you were able to get it on, I figured the leather buckle came off.

Offer is still good if'n you want to trade for a the standard Polish style.....
