No, we were resisting starting up another thread about a smith who really, really screwed up some markings....they are the ones you see posted above with the "This is not what they are supposed to look like." The Ted Marshall markings would be correct, and beautifully executed. |
YEa, OD is short for odinochnuy.... odin (pronounced a'Deen) is the number 1....so odinochnoy is like saying 'single'. AB is short for avtomatichesky... AK-47= Avtomat Kalashnikova-47 or automatic rifle designed by Kalashnikov, model 47 obviously.... Their "V" sound, looks like: "B" in written Russian (as you may have known...) -C |
Hey LawDog, lemme straighten things out for you... Marshall Arms website is correct (I work for them BTW) and 'OD' is single (or semi-auto if you prefer). "OD" is english characters, don't put that on your gun! The Russian "D" sound is represented by the letter: Д So when I say OD, I am just saying that to differentiate from the people who incorrectly type "OA". So, your confusion lies with the Russian "D" which looks kinda like an A but it is not. So when you typed AB, OA in your above post, that was incorrect; it should be AB, ОД (make sure you have cyrillic encoding enabled in your browser to correctly display the characters!) The Diamond D guy who totally messed up that poor guy's gun had obviously never researched written Russian cyrillic, as he just used the letter A for both....piss poor,,, cheers, -C |
