Like the KREBs system. Seems like the AK would be more accurate if the sight was mounted closer to the eyes.

I'm no expert, but it seems like I've always read that mounting a scope on an AK's dust cover is a piss-poor way of doing it.

he is talking abou the rear site, not optic.
The only top covers that are fitted well enough for  accuracy, ar the krebs, valmet,  and galil.
if im right, the stock covers on other AKs just dont fit good enough.

I recall reading, and seeing pictures of someone put a AR15 rear sight on the action cover, a long time ago.......it didn't look all that bad, considering he basically bubbaized it

Why would it be more accurate if you mounted the sight closer to your eye, wouldn't that just make it blurier, when I use open sights, I find it hard to sight in if the back sight is right in front of my eye... just my 2 cents...

it gives you a better sight picture, .......and all rear sight are blurry, but you aren't suppose to concentrate on the rear sight, but on the target with the front sight......the rear sight just gives you a "picture frame" so you can easily and quickly center the front sight to it.

The longer the sight radius the more accurate you can line up the sights to the target.

Ohio Rapid Fire used to mount HK drum sights on AK dust covers and sell the assemblyu for $65 or so, but I believe they ran out some time ago.

Krebs Custom also has an AR A2 peep sight mounted on a dust cover, but I think it requires a slight mod to the bolt to work properly.

A Galil cover with a Galil sight can be made to fit wtih a little work from what I understand, but finding one is going to be touhg...ORF *might* have them...

Roger that! The "normal" AK has too much play in the receiver cover (even if it doesn't seem to wiggle by hand). Sights are sensitive to the slightest movements.

I was eyeing some rear shotgun sights from Brownells as a possible mount to the rear cover.  Food for thought.
