Would you buy anything built on one?

Thanks!

ONLY if I personally knew the builder and have seen that he knew what the heck he was doing.

the hesse/vulcan receivers could be made to work well but you never know if the person who built it did it right.

What he said!

I've built two rifles on Hesse receivers and found them to be pretty decent. I needed to do less work to them, then the OOW receivers I've been using.

you can buy if like they said you know that the probs have been fixed
or
just pay them what the parts are worth that way your safe if the rec is shit
the rec's really arnt bad but the ejector is soft if its been fired much without treating
its junk so just keep that in mind

The early complete rifles they built were welded together.  They look like crap, and I wouldn't trust one as far as I could throw it.  However, the receivers themselves are pretty good.  I bought a couple when they first came out with them and built them with the East German Kits that used to be available (truly a bargain at $90 each).  The metal was outstanding, and the bends were spot-on.

Thanks for the replies!

Question on the extractor once the unit had been built can you heat treat the extractor?

yes you could, but you might have to refinish the receiver after you're done

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not buying more when they were cheaper. I picked up two for $100 with free shipping. About 5 months after that, the supplier would sell you 4 for $100 with the shipping. That's what I get for not planning ahead.

If the eject has not buttered itself in the first case of ammo, it's one of the good ones. This was mainly an issue with a batch last year.
Other than super authentic nitpickers, nobody really blames the dies, just some QC.
The workmanship on their welded ones can be spooky, and headspace checks are mandatory imho.
