Pop quiz... Check out this auction on Gunbroker and post if you think it looks legit or not (and why)? I'll post more about it later and fill in some details. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=34375097 |
It's not legit for 3 reasons. 1. It's not an AK. 2. It's Airsoft 3. It's photoshopped 4. Colt Makes it 5. I passed 3 6. Only #1 is my reason. Tell us. |
Nothing struck me out of the ordinary with that? What got my attention is the mismatch between the frame and the slide. As well as the markings on the slide, which seemed more Kimber-esque that Colt-esque. I give up? |

OK, here's the deal. The high bidder could have used the "Buy It Now" option and got it for $500. He didn't. Instead, he placed a 'regular' bid of $500 and now, he's at $530. Yeah, he could just be a half-blind dumbass but I'm quite sure he's a shill. Also, it would be an amazing coincidence that there was a red '97-ish Mustang in that gunshop's small parking lot when I went to look at that gun recently. If it walks like a duck, it's a ____ . |
I'm surprised that the system allowed this to happen. As far as I'm concerned if you entered a bid amount that's higher than the "buy it now" cost on Ebay, the system will tell you to use the buy it now option instead of letting your bid amount register. Also, I don't understand why the system would show the buy it now amount after someone has bid an amount higher than that. There's really no point to it and would put the seller at an disadvantage because people would be less willing to bid after knowing. |

I can't say anything about the seller, but the gun looks legit to me. The mismatched look between the frame and slide is normal. The Lightweight Commanders were an alloy frame gun, and the frames are anodized blue/black and have a slightly different luster than the blued steel slides. I do remember seling these when they were new, although the lightweights were not very common. It is an "enhanced" frame gun too, which means it is later production model. By the grips, i would say the gun was made between 1991 and 1997. {The rubber grips were not standard until 1991} KyARGuy |
