My Mak90 before InRange.

After the Troy treatment.

The photos don't do it justice. Absolutely beautiful.

Where is the cleaning rod

The rifle never had cleaning rod or bayonet attachments. Ground smooth off at the factory I guess.
I'm sure Troy could have restored it to be perfectly authentic but he fixed it just like I wanted.

Do you need a new folder trunnion?  What parts are needed and did he weld a new plate to the holes in the rear?

...that is a milled receiver, it doesn't have/need a rear truniuon.

I have the exact gun.  The question is what parts are needed to complete the gun.  By trunnion I meant any reinforcing plates or parts required?  I just ordered a ironwooddesigne stock set.  Maybe an underfolder would be better. How much will this run?

The only parts you need is the underfolder stock. The receiver has to be milled, ask Sellars but it should be about $125~150.

Get a Bulgarian underfolder from K-Var for 70.00 and you'll need to be aware of the US parts count required to make it legal. Mine required a new FCG. That is all the parts you need.

Killer looking rifle......

As I said before, "everyone should have at least one Chinese AK."

Is it me or shouldn't the muzzle comp be canted about 15 degrees more? It's a beautiful looking thing. Thanks for sharing.

Mr. Sellars is da man.

You could always pickup a new barrel assembly from Polytech Parts and have the weapon retrofitted at a later date......Better to get it now and have it, instead of waiting till later and finding out it's no longer in stock.

The slant brake on an AKM and Chinese AK's are offset to direct the muzzle blast to the right of the weapon to help keep it from climbing high and to the right under full auto fire.

The brake is as it should be.

Nice rifle!

Looks like even the flashhider was installed correctly.  These is a retaining pin instead of them just welding it in or loctiting it in.

So how much did the total tranformation set you back?

[#17]
The muzzle brake was icing on the cake. I asked if there was anything we could do for the muzzle when I sent it off. I didn't know he had threaded the muzzle and drilled the front sight base until I got it back.

total cost:
70.00 for the underfolder
195.00 for the underfolder and brake install and refinishing
35.00 for the FGC for parts count
15.00 shipping
315.00 total

My AK on the internet: priceless

Where did you find that upper handguard?
Thanks.

Wow, a little more then what I wanted to shell out.  For some reason, my MAK has the sweetest trigger I have ever felt on any gun.  Nice crisp let off and very accurate.  I mean really accurate. I was out shooting my Bushy with it.  Total abberation.  Once in a lifetime, all the parts came together and was made perfectly.

So I dont want to mess with the FCG.  I have ordered new wood and pistol grip.  And with the PROMAG USA mag that should give me the 5 parts that I need to make the transformation and not have mess with the FCG.

I need to get another job.

Here it is with wood.

Belloc,
The upper handguard is from the Choate Dragunov stock set on it in the first picture. The Choate lower handguard melted so I got an Ultimak lower handguard which has a heat shield and works great.

I spent a little money on this conversion but I think it was well worth it to put the gun in a much more authentic configuration. The cool factor of a milled Chinese underfolder is way high. The value of this gun has probably doubled.

It can be ordered direct from Choate (along with its matching lower handguard) for $13.20, part # 180204. www.riflestock.com

EDIT : The above posters MAK 90 has a (K-Var?) lower handguard, the Choate is a uniform smooth finish just like the upper handguard and does not have a heatshield.

Thanks. I like the grooves cut into the bottom of the upper. It looks from the pic like the choate upper matches in color with the K-var lower.
