Opened the safe yesterday to go wade through the range and try a few weapons bought over the last two years (Thanks Jeep). Low and behold, I find a rusty looking secretion on my ORF Bulgy
74 bought at Bulletfest last year. Yeah, looks just like rust.
Now, even at my age, I can remember a really good post on here about soaking these rifles to remove the blueing salts, but I don't remember the particulars. Can anybody help?
Also remember a really intensive article posted on here about redoing the Bulgarian stocks. Is that
article on a site still available. Thanks for the help in advance.
BTW Jeepcreep; the trip to Kodak this last week was a total sucess. Troy Sellars is a AK building God and should be worshipped by all who read these posts. Will try to send you photos.

Strip the rifle down and soak it in hot boiling water for 30 minutes , take it out. It will soon dry, then dunk it in mineral spirits or give a good soaking with mineral spirits. Followed by a good oiling and cleaning. Thats should get rid of the bluing salts.

yeah...Bulletslap has the trick on the metal.

What type of finish are you looking for on the wood? Troy is definately a master at his trade!...see I told you it doesn't hurt to take a dozen doughnuts with you! .

IM me a mailing addy, and I will send you a product to stick in your safe to help fight the rust/oxidation.
