Dimples have been beat to death on here ... Not much said about trigger humps ...

Why can't the U.S. Manuf. do the damn trigger humps ??

Well, part of the reason might be, somewhat educated folks like myself, don't even know WTF 'trigger humps' are.

The rounded portion of the receiver inside the trigger guard, that is under the trigger pin on some AKs.

EDIT : You can see trigger humps on the AKs in this picture.

OK, I see them now.

Very nice AKs, BTW.

Have I asked you where in TX you are?

I've heard that since those details cater to a small group of collectors, the cost of adding the feature is not lucrative.

The main AKM receiver that builders are after is the 70's style AKM receiver. The trigger bumps were not added unitil the 74 series which created releif for the trigger design. These bumps were carried on in the newer AKM productions in early 90's. If I am not mistaken the Russian design only called for on trigger hump and the Romanians had them on both sides of the trigger, someone correct me on this one.

Well .... I get educated daily here if I ask the right question ...

So there is no real reason for them other than a small geometric diff. on the 74 ....

I've got to pay closer attn to pics I look at !!! .... I "Assumed" all AK's had 'em ... Can't remember if my polytech had 'em or not ...

Well thanks owen80 ....

Those are some of Stottman's dewats in Germany.  That's why they've got the real-deal receivers.

As far as I know, originally there was only one hump and later a second hump was added. Romanians do have both humps...checking my Saiga...my saiga has one hump, but... it also has the bolt hold-open thingy don't know if this has anything to do with it. My Romanian MkII has two humps AND very nice dimples
