Are the side folders offered on the wasrs any good? Not the wire version. I think its the tapco one that also has the Galil handguards. I was told at a funshop that the handguards melt and the stock is wobbly as shit. Anybody know? |
| The handguards seem to be well enough made. There have been members who report really liking the folders. I have only handled them and they seem cheap and toy like. Make no mistake the Tapco folder is a product designed for and by gunshow warriors whose idea of a tough day is when they have to wait for twenty minutes for a lane at the indoor range or carry a case of Wolf to thier car from the gunshow. |
Thats what I thought, when I get the romanian it will be a knock around gun that will be abused and bump fired and never cleaned  Guess I will stick to the wood stock, cheaper too.

If you are wanting a folding stock the Romanian side folders do a great job and lock tight open or closed. Most people don't care for the looks of the Romy sidefolder at first but it grows on you. I have them on a couple of rifles and have really come to love the ugly things. Of course if you aren't really interested in a folder you can't go wrong with wood either. |
My thoughts exactly. I bought one about a year before the ban ended from FAC for like $31, SHIPPED!  I didn't like it at first and I still think it is ugly, but it is very functional. Very tight in the open position. I'll keep it on my beater SAR-2.
