I am starting to see alot fo Tigers and Dragunov being sold, anyone know if people are dumping them because there may be importation of parts and US made drags or reimportation of non-chinese and russian versions?

I think they just seen to come in waves.  A couple of years ago you'd see a handful at a time of NDM-86's on Gunbroker and I remember seeing a couple of SVD's there too.  When I bought my NDM, the guy was selling it because he and his wife were having a baby and they were looking for a little extra cash for baby stuff.  When I bought my California Tigr, the guy had inherited it and didn't want it, so lucky me!!

I agree with TallGuy.  You'll see several for awhile then they dry up for awhile before being seen again.  I don't see any new Dragunovs coming into the country (wish they would though).  Also, I don't see any domestic Drags anytime soon.

I wouldn't pay more than 1K for one, but that is me... First of all, you can buy a Romanian "Drag" for around 500! Second because you can buy a bolt action Remington 700 or others for around 700-800 and they are moa or sub out of the box.
Although they are very good looking rifles... I have never seen one at the shooting range where I shoot, but I do see a lot of AK's (more AR's and bolt action rifles than anything else).
I think a good buy for a "sniper" in semi auto would be a Panther, they are .308 based on the AR system. I think the price tag for those was $800, and very accurate... But then again, its not as reliable as an AK based rifle !

Linky for the Panther, there are 20 round metal mags for it now that the ban is out!

A Romanian "Drag" is not a Dragunov at all...It is a PSL.
I think the reason to buy a Dragunov is the same reason to buy an AK variant...BECAUSE YOU WANT ONE.
Aggreed; however, if you are looking for awesome accuracy...there are cheaper, and better alternatives.
But, alas...the ARFCOM motto "GET BOTH!!"

A litttle note if it is made in Romania it is not a Dragunov/SVD, it is a PSL different gun.

An NDM in .308 you shouldn't pay more than about $1,600.00 - $1,800.00
An NDM in 7.62x54 you shouldn't pay more than about $2,500.00 - $2,600.00
A Tigr SVD you shouldn't pay more than about $1,500.00 - $1,600.00
A California Tigr SVD you shouldn't pay more than about $2,500.00 - $2,600.00
I sold an SVD on gunbroker a couple of years ago for $5,800.00
As with all prices though, all I can say is "supply and demand"  YMMV

There are 3 Tigrs on Gunbroker now:

gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=31727991
gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=31866850

The first one is way overpriced with a "Buy it now" of $2,100.00 but if he gets it, then more power to him.  The last one is worth checking out.  It 's a California Tigr (having the flash hider).  I don't know what his reserve is, but he may not know what he has and that could be a great deal for someone.  I waited 2yrs before I found my California Tigr and paid $2,600.00 for it!!

I will tell you this.......if you buy a TIGR with that funky civilian thumbhole stock on it, you won't get any kind of good cheek weld to use the scope......I bought one with one of those, and replaced it with a military laminated stocked set I bought from a guy in russia......andyarts. made a world of difference and it looks great with it on there. the other one I had, I sold that for 1200 bucks, that was a couple years back.......I put a chinese SVD set I picked up on the internet.

Picture of my Tiger.  Future plans include

1)Going to get Z_recto to lighten up the color of the buttstock
2)Military vented plastic handguards
3)SVD bipod
4)look into the upcoming adjustable gas system from dragunovparts.com

About the SVD options, are there other countries that make them, that we may be able to import from?  I think Poland and Bulgaria both use SVD, maybe even East German troops.  Would it at least be possible to import some parts kits?
