Atlantic Firearms is advertising a "Russian AK-47" for $640. From all appearances, this is a hi-cap Saiga with the AK-103 modifications like AK-USA does. Same folding stock (sold seperately for $65; comes with skeletonized stock though), same flash suppressor, and everything. The difference being, this is much more affordable than the rifles sold by AK-USA. So are these Saigas with the 100-series mods? Are they done by the AK-USA folks but sold through Atlantic, or made by somebody else? How do they compare in terms of quality? I really want a 100-series Kalashnikov, and this looks to be the most affordable source. |

Why dont you send Blaine an email. Go to the Atlantic website and ckick on the contact link and ask him. He is great to deal with. A friend of mine bought one and it did look lik the ones that AKUSA sells for around 800.00. It was verytwell made and shot great. But best bet is to just ask Blaine he is great to deal with and he wont bullshit you. |

I'm going to guess that the side folding stock they're selling for an additional $65 is probably a Romanian wire-folder, and NOT a Russian or Bulgarian triangle folder (similiar to that fixed stock shown) - those triangle folders are not anywhere near that cheap - and require modification to the receiver. As far as price, AK-USA is a premium shop, much like Krebs is - better finish, more time spent on the rifle, etc... Do you want "good enough" (which is probably pretty darned good), or do you want "perfection" ?? If the former, buy that rifle from Atlantic, and be worry free - and have a rifle you don't mind dropping in the mud. If the latter, buy the rifle from AK-USA, and be worry free - and have a rifle that will make you cry when you get the first ding in the finish.  AK-USA makes REALLY great stuff, but if you don't care about having a show piece, other places are "good enough". |
