I've got a AMD 63 kit, and on my sidefolder bar (the long bar that is essentially the stock) there is a slight bend in it, to the left. It is like a 10 or 20 degree bend to the left, so it pushes the shoulder pad about 2 inches to the left of the entire line of the rifle, when extended. When folded, the bend makes the stock stick out from the side of the rifle, it does not sit close to it. Now, I thought this was normal (never handled a AMD before) till I was at the gunshow today, and I saw another AK with one of the AMD folders on it. This one has it as a straight bar, keeping the pad in line with the rifle. Also, when folded, it sits right next to the rifle. Which is correct? Oh, and I am not talking about the downward bend of the bar (which mine also has), this is a definite left bend. |

I haven't had a AMD-65 that the stock was'nt bent one way or the other yet.. But no worries, they are soft metal, and can be bent back fairly easy.. Just take care not to put too much strain on the receiver.. Try to see were the bend is, clamp it in a vise, and use hand pressure to bend it back.. |
