The piece on a stamped AK that the barrel is attached to.  It's riveted into the reciever.  There's also a rear one that the stock screws into.

Im more of an AR guy.  Dont get me wrong I would love an AK, but I just dont have the funds for one.

Don't worry about it, it's not stupid.  Not knowing and being afraid to ask and never knowing what a trunnion is because of that is stupid.

I'm pretty certain The Red Horseman was just playing around a little bit with you.

No worries, and gt yourself an AK soon, you won't look back.

It's not a stupid question.

I still couldn't figure out till this day why AKs are designed with a trunnion and the rear sight base as two separate parts.  By the way does anyone know the answer?

If you really want an ak, sell one  of your ARs.  Then go buy TWO or THREE aks.

I wish I had a a few ARs.  I currently only have one.  I was THIS close to buying an AK but decided to spend the money on accessories for my AR.
