So they fucked up the trigger guard!
How does the rest look? I can't tell in the pics.

Everything looks to be in pretty good shape.

It doesn't look too bad...I should have mine tomorrow.

You'll have to find a trigger guard but the rest looks buildable!!

What's the bore like?  Mine are pretty rough.

Naw, he can just WECSOG it (if he can weld!).

Mine are sewer pipes.  I say the bore would make the kits rate as poor.

well thats what you get when you mix corrosive ammo with a non chromed bore.

Mine has very nice sharp rifling, but the actual surface of the bore is not as smooth as it could be. It has a very slightly matte rather than glossy look to it. It does not appear to have been fired much. Otherwise, the kit looks pretty good. I'm excited to get it built.

It was a MOTHERFUCKER to get the cosmoline off of this bitch. After seven + hours of cleaning I decided I'd had enough. I had a headache from naptha & gunscrubber soaking in to my skin the whole time. I was a dumbass & didn't wear gloves until the end. Now I just need a receiver!

Take the cosmoline off with boiling water. Works great and you don't have to do any huffing.

It looks like these Yugo AK's used the RPK type receiver, note the RPK type trunion on the kit in the photo 2 posts up ^

Someone here in the states has to start making / importing a decent RPK / Yugo style receiver for these new kits coming in.

The Yugo receiver was very similar to the RPK with the exception of magazine dimples, which the RPK didn't have. However the Zastava factory did make 7.62x39mm AK's with a standard AKM type receiver, but these are commonly found on 7.62x39mm shorty / krink versions only.

FAC is supposed to be getting and testing RPK style receivers. Check out the Yugoslavian AK section in the forums.

That's what the local do-it-yourself carwash and a handful of quarters are for. Take that badboy to
the wash, turn on the hot water portion, and blast away.

I had to use that option for my Ishapore .308 Enfield.

I did the same thing with two of my Albanian SKS's. Carwash works great!

I've only had time to run a pair of swabs down my bores of the fixed stock kits. One is a bit fuzzier in the lands, but both have super stong rifling so a bit of cleanign and fire lapping should make them good. I'm quite happy for the money.

I got my underfolder kit today. I spent about 1/2 hour cleaning it in the parts washer at work. It cleaned up pretty well, but I'm not impressed with the bore. Overall, it should make a decent rifle.

My two fixed stocks will arrive tomorrow.   I'm expecting rifles in good, usable condition.

If even one has a crappy bore,  they'll both go back.

I wonder how hard it would be to "graft" a replacement receiver to the remaining front section of the Yugo receiver

I hope to get my kit soon so I can show everyone how easy it will be to use a standerd Tapco flat.
I plan on just cutting out the area around the bulges, then screwing it too the two lower holes on each side, then welding it around the bulges for extra strength. I don't see a problem!
I wanted to be the first to get my kit(s) built, but so far mine haven't shipped, I have an e-mail in to Lois to see what's going on.

all you would have to do is cutout around the hump on front trunnion and weld that part of the orig front trunnion to a new rec i could do it in 20-30 min
but to keep it storong you would want to weld the gun together also (wich i dont like to do)

The receiver for the Yugo M70 AK kits that is referred to above is NOT an FAC project. I am a lead member of the group working on the receiver but it will NOT be distributed by FAC. Contact me at [email protected] if you are interested.
Thanks.
