I will be getting my 1st prototype AK flat today from the machine shop. Decided to go with flats first for the learning curve, then will add completed receivers later, if there is any interest from the membership. Construction is of 4130 steel, including lower rails, flat is .040 thick. I don't have a final price on the flat w/rails yet, still working that out, but the Machineshop knows I want it for less than $20 per set, preferabley $15 per set. Typically, the more flats I have them build, the cheaper it will be. So, how much interest is there for a new flat w/lower rails, in the $15.00 range? Oh, forgot to add that these flats will not have the front trunnion rivit holes, and only 1 rear rivit hole that typically uses the long rivit. the flat will feature all dimples that are currently on completed receivers. I will try to find someone who can shoot and post some digital pics later after I pick up the prototype. I would like some feedback in the meantime. Thanks guys! OJF |
