If you havn't shot with an Eotech sight, do yourself a favor and try one out. Or do what I did and drop the dough for the sight. Hell, I've got the same money in my SAR-1 as I do in the Eotech. but let me tell you it is worth it. I just cant believe how much easier and fun it is to shoot with this sight. Makes shooting more like a video game. The Eotech has many advantages over any other type of sight, but one of the big advantages is RAPID TARGET ACQUISITION, and rapid FOLLOW UP shots because of better battlefield awareness. Both eyes wide open and seeing the SAME IMAGE. ....amongst other things. In the old days I always avoided AK's with side rails because I though "scopes" were better suited to Pappy's 30-30 because deer don't shoot back, and the enemy doesn't hold still. And looking through a small tunnel would only serve to desensitize the shooter to his surroundings. But with the Eotech things have changed. I put one of the "high mount" side rail-to-picatinny (made in Belarus) mounts on my SAR-1............and then mounted a 511 Eotech to it. This is the ultimate system I've ever seen! With the "high mount" your head stays upright in a natural position as you shoot. ........just add one of those 1" rubber buttpad extensions to the stock and I feel you've then got todays ultimate battle system. I bough mine at National Gun Day gun show in Louisville last month. But they are available on the 'net. Mine is the one that says "MTK-83" on the side of it. And mine is the "high mount" version. They make a "low" version just like mine I think. Be careful because there are many companies that make similar mounts and there are many models, styles and heights. I am really pleased with mine. I've shot over 4000 rounds and I've dismounted and remounted it many times and the zero does not change. I checked the screws that hold it together after the 4000 rounds and found them to be slightly loose, so keep and eye on them. With my mount you can use the iron sights if you look under the mount/Eotech. I would suggest the "high mount" it puts the sight at just the right position where you can look right through the sight without crooking your neck. That is one of the main benefits to this setup! |

Don't know if its the same height as your scope but I can tell you that you can look underneath the mount and clearly see the ironsights while it is mounted. It is quite high, but then that is its gratest virtue in my eyes because it puts the Eotech high enough that you dont tweak your neck like you do on conventional sights. Just hold your head up, look through the glass and line up on the target. It will change the way you've always thought about gun sights. |
LOL damn I bought two of those from my local FFL for 5 bucks a piece both are the High versions though. I put my eotech on my when I bought it. Get the lower version. |

The Eotech cost the same as my SAR-1 rifle too. For $750 you can have an AK, Eotech, and mount. A chaep shit eater model AR15 will cost you more than $750. And you'll be stuck with a shitty carry handle and iron sights. So think how lucky you are to have an AK and Eotech combo. The Eotech makes the AK at least Twice as effective. And about 10 times as fun. Its worth it! |
My dad bought the Holosight for his Ruger 454 casull but it kicks the shit out of him so he doesnt use the canon, he said it is mine....but it really...kicks my ass.... But he told me I can't sell it  , so I have a handgun with a holosight that is collecting dust. Buying a mount to use this sight is well worth it. |

If you don't get a low mount the eotech will look like crap and feel like crap when you use it. |
