I just got my new Vector RPD in and it looks fantastic!

I thought I would post a few pics of it here if anyone wants to look at the quality of the Vector weapons.

This is the semi-auto version of the world famous machine gun used extensively in Southeast Asia.

I have yet to be disappointed with anything that Vector makes.

My next purchase from them is going to be the Vector 53 SBR.

On a side note, if anyone wants one, hoot

Awsome looking piece of steel there.

Vector usually does do a very high quality build.

Now we need a range report!

Any Idea what number you were on the list? I am waiting not so patiently.

I placed my order in October for this baby.

How long have you been waiting and what price were you going to pay?

They told me that if I want another one or two I could get them in a month or so since I have already bought one of pretty much everything they make except the Vector 53 SBR, which is comming up next.

Couple of questions;

1) are the drus hard to come by?

2) link that hold the ammo together hard to come by?

3) Can it be shot without the drum?

Range Report

I took it out to the range and put 200 rounds through her.  Only had one malfunction and I think that is because the belt got a little twisted.

The belt comes in 50 round sections that can be combined to make it a 100 round belt.

The loading of the drum and belts is pretty standard.  Just have to make sure the rounds are pointed in the right direction. he
The loading of the weapon went fairly well the first go around with no problems at all.  My weapon did not come with a manual, so I had to refer back to my expirence with an M60 for the loading.  Just raised the feed tray cover, layed a loaded belt onto the feed tray and closed the feed tray cover.  After that I just charged the handle once and put the weapon on fire.  Low and behold it fired the first time.

During my firing drills I was situated on a shooting table 100 yards out from the targets.

I started out by checking accuracy and was pleasantly surprised to see that I could maintain a sub 1.5" group at 100 yards.  These shots were fired single shot with careful aiming for each round.

The next set of shots involved rapid fire 3-shot bursts.  This was done to check the dependability of the feed pawl mechanism of the weapon during rapid fire.  I had no trouble in this area of the test at all.

After playing around some more with a few extra rounds, I cut loose 30 rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger.  I don't know what rate of fire it was, but it was pretty fast and got the attention of some nearby bystanders.  The 30 rounds went through without a hitch.

Overall, I would have to say the functionality and dependability of the RPD was exceptional.  As stated before, the only problem I had was one malfunction due to a twisted belt.  That can be easily avoided by using the drum attached to the weapon instead of a loose belt.

I picked mine up at the october knob creek shoot so far she has a little over 5000 rounds and still runs like a champ the semi rpd from vectror ws by far the best firearm investment for the money i have ever purchased     I now have a vector v53 sbr on order waiting for the form 3 to transfer to my dealer then the long wait starts for my form 4   but it will worth it

by the way guys vector has a 5 yr warranty on the rpd and only other semi rpd on the market is the historic arms gun that is also a nice gun but cost almost 2 times what the vector cost
