I was wondering how hard it would be to replace the barrel on my WASR 10 with the barrel of an RPK if it is even possible?

Also, though I assume it would, I was wondering, if I make my own pistol grip for the AK, would that add to my US parts count?

Yes, if you make your own grip, that would be a US part.

To do the barrel, you would have to punch out the barrel pin, then press out the old barrel, then press back in the new barrel and make sure the headspace is correct. If not, you ahv to re-drill the barrel pin to correct it. If you do a search on those terms (barrel pin and press) there are several ways to do that with hammers, punches, shop presses, etc. Then you can decide if you are up to it.

The good news is that you don't have to un rivet anything. You just have to make sure your RPK barrel is the same diameter as the Romanian.

It's less work than a total rebuild, but the pin and barrel press can be a pain if you don't have the tools.
