the one I saw was threaded with a nut put on it to protect the threads.

if you want to get rid of it I could use the nut for a project

If it's removeable it's yours. I'm going with a U.S. slant brake. I just ordered two like new kits and one of them should be here tomorrow.

Yep, they are removeable.

Just remember, reverse threads.
