When one is adjusting the rear sight, moving the slider to alter the height for distance to the target; what part of the slider is supposed to line up with the graduated lines?

Kind of hard to explain, but the slider itself is about 3mm "thick", and it has a front edge,  a middle and a back edge.  Which of those 3 is supposed to match up with the lines?  I'm thinking the front edge of the slider should match up to the desired line on the sight?

Thanks.

ETA a picture.

Correct it's the front edge that is used.

Ditto what guncrazy said, the sight in the pic is set for 100 meters.

Is that a windage adjustable sight? BTW, the '1' setting is good for zeroing the rifle. Set your rear windage (if so equipped) to the center and adjust the front sight elevation so you hit the point of aim at 100. For longer ranges, adjust the slider to the appropriate distance. Your sight doesn't appear to have a battlesight setting (the letter P or A) which gives hits on a torso-sized target out to 300 yds when there is no time to estimate distance. It'll be high out to 200, then low, but it'll be in the 'hit window'. I'd just leave it on '1' after sighting in.

Thanks guys.  The sight in the iamge is a windage adjustable rear, but its not mine, I have the regular rear leaf sight.

Okay, then you'll have to adjust windage with the front sight when sighting in. Move the front sight opposite the direction you need to move the point of impact.
