| Not sure on removing the marks. Mike mentioned it might have to be refinished, in which case the writing wont' be highlighted. Not sure what they are going to do with the build marks where the push button will go. I pretty much dont' ever use the BHO. I'll keep it in, on the off chance I go to a range where they require it, but I dont' see that happening. Its a neat idea, thats not terribly useful. Its either loaded hot, or on safe. Or completely empty with no mag. None of which require a BHO. |
| I hear that. Krink came first. My 74M is getting refinished by ORF. I'm thinking hard of getting that cut down to a 105. Then I'd have a pair. Although the 74M clone is a SAR2 reciever and all bulgarian parts. Both have AK100 folders. Sound like a good plan? Waiting to hear back from Mike on cost. |

The stumbling block I am going through right now is finding the shorter stubby cone booster for these models. I am doing a 5.56 version. The only way righ now is to try and find one from Russia (wait forever and very expensive, 7.62x39 caliber only model available). Or section and shorten a bulgarian AKSU cone booster wich is going to be the way I end up going. Ted Marshal charges over $400 to make these. I am going to try and make my own. ![]() Image from Avtomats in Action - Tantal's Web Site |
Yes, it does SUCK. The other option is to just screw a standard AKSU cone booster on and call it good but they are longer than they should be and that would drive me loony. Maybe Chris could make a custom run on CNC and save us all from the misery. |

Actually, the boosters are not that hard to get from Russia. As I recall, Andrei (Andyarts, etc) sent some to the US last year. Not being a nitpicking collector, he was calling them early AKSU74 boosters. Of course, once in the US, the hard core collectors knew what they were. Also, Izhmash does sell the Saiga-MK (semi auto AK-104 or 102) in 5.56 on the Russian commercial market. I would assume that someone there would be able to get some boosters as spares. Thats how the majority of AK parts are sold in Russia. As either spares for the Saiga series, or as spares for the MMG/Makets (dewatts). |
