i recently got a sa-2000m from a gun show and i got a bmp-1 rail mount for it. no holes are drilled for it and it uses one of the rear trunion holes that have a rivet in it already which is where i need help.. should or could i do any of the following:

1. leave rivet intact and drill out the hole on the rail mount to accomodate and then just use screws in the other two holes?(im leaning toward this option)

2. drill out the rivet(keep in mind i have no rivet experience at all) and use screws in all three holes?

3. drill out the rivet and use rivets in all holes?

4. just give up and take it to a gunsmith(keep in mind that i like working on my guns ive already built an ar-15 myself)

i have basic tools drill dremel with grinding stuff like that. price is not a bit deal but wuold like to spend as little as possible. usually its cheaper to do stuff like this urself right? i would appreciate yall's input on this subject.

I don't care if you use this forum or the Builders forum for the question, but please try to ask it only once.

And welcome aboard!

drill out the trunnion rivet and use rivets in ALL the holes.

these rivets are easy to buck. use a hammer and go buy yourself a rivet setting punch.

your buck can be a simple 'L' shaped piece of scrap steel that is solidly clamped in a bench vise.
