Okay, I now have my new MAK 90 and I will be threading the muzzle.  I'll measure the diameter next week, so I know if I can thread it at 14x1mm LH (desired if its .551") or 1/2x28 RH (if its closer to .500").  I will be renting one of WJM's threading kits to do it.

Only reason I'm not sure of the thread size - I measured three MAK 90's at a local gun shop - they were all very close to .500", which is too small for 14x1 threads.  I'm hoping the MAK 90 I picked up has a slightly larger diameter.

I am deciding between these two flash hiders currently:

24x1.5mm RH threaded Bulgarian FH

or this
US Made 14x1mm LH FH

Obviously the top FH will require a thread adapter from 14x1mm to 24x1.5mm - but those are only about $10.  My MAK 90 is not drilled out for the retainer pin/spring in the FSB.  Or if it used to be - its been welded over and ground down.  My question is - can I just use red loctite to secure the FH to the muzzle threads, or should I see about getting the FSB drilled for a retainer pin and spring?

red loctite works, but i prefer the higher temp loctite 704 or equivalent thread locking adheasives (2-part, spary activator and liquid).

704, I'll have to find that.  The red loctite I've got now is the 272.

Or if the adaptor and fh combo has a gap near the front of the adaptor, you don't want a nook that is hard to clean. A combination sealant/filler in the form of std 600deg slow set JBWeld may be good. You can light a cigarette with less temp, but I've never known anybody to use it in place of silver solder [crickets]

I think I'll go with the second FH, that way I don't have to worry about a gap with the adapter.

I've always used the standard blue stuff. It keeps the hider from turning and makes it easier to remove if  you need to for cleaning etc.  The Red's and JB weld are more permanent.
